Do you ever feel like a failure as a mother? Or maybe as a wife? Or just as a person? Well, I do too… I think it may be inevitable… but it’s not permanent! You are enough!
That feeling of not being able to get anything right, or unable to get something done on time. Maybe you keep burning your casseroles, or maybe you keep being late to your child’s pediatrician visits! Or, similar to my case, feel like you aren’t doing enough for your kids.
I’m here to tell you something…YOU ARE ENOUGH! … Let me explain…
Failure Creeping in…
One morning, after I finished my daily readings, I had some time before my son woke up, so I thought I’d check out my latest feed on Pinterest. I wanted to find a “Fall Family Bucket List” for us to do now that Autumn is almost here! I wanted a list of things I shouldn’t let my child miss out on, and you know Pinterest has a bunch of lists! They have lists of lists!
As I was going through all the different activities to do with your family during the holidays, I started to become emotional. That’s a lot of things to do, a lot of money to spend. All those hayrides, cornmazes, and pumpkin patches that you have to pay just to get in!
I felt like a failure as a Mother because I couldn’t give my child the ability to experience Fall like everyone else. I couldn’t keep up with the Joneses.
See, at this time in our lives, my family and I are planning to move out of the state soon so we are saving as much as having a toddler and some furbabies will allow!
As the hours passed, going along with our day, my son is teething very badly and is in so much pain. No medicine or teether is helping him. All he wants is his mommy. All he wants is to be around me, in my presence. I, alone, comfort him.
Finally, it hit me.
Shut Failure Out
My son doesn’t care about all the “things”. He only cares about a few things; his daddy, mommy, and probably his toy car.. ? At this age, he can’t do a lot of the things I want him to experience anyway. In the future, when he is older, of course I’ll take him to the pumpkin patch to pick out a big pumpkin to carve and to go on a hayride, but for now, all he really cares about is attention from his mommy & daddy. Therefore, just BE with your children and make memories, whether they cost money or are free! Memories are memories! Laughter is laughter. All that our kids want is us and our attention. Do what you can do, don’t try to keep up with anyone else, you are doing great!
You are enough for them. Just you, you as a person, as a parent, and as a mother. God made you enough. The Lord blessed us with our children and our children with us. We are the perfect parents for our children. We are enough.
For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.
God planned for you to be with your children! Go and enjoy this upcoming season and holiday with them! If you need some ideas for a budget/family friendly Fall list, no need to search Pinterest for hours! Check out my FREE PRINTABLE below! ↓
You could try something new in the kitchen! Like making a New Soup Recipe, cooking Homemade Pot Pie, or baking some yummy Pumpkin Bread! Have your littles help mix the ingredients or pick out what to put in the soup! I bet they will feel so proud that they helped mommy make dinner!
What better way to stay warm than to Snuggle up with a good Book or a festive Movie! If you don’t have any, then check out your local library! They’ve got tons of free movies and books just waiting to be checked out! Grab a few books to read to your children about Autumn or Thanksgiving!
Speaking of Thanksgiving, donate some clothes or toys! While doing so, you can teach your children about giving and why it’s so important!
“Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.”
2 Corinthians 9:7
Fall=Football! There are always some televised football games on television! If you don’t use television, you can go outside and actually play a game of football!
Painting Mini Pumpkins can be a cheaper option than buying a huge pumpkin to carve! Plus, if your little ones are actually LITTLE, those tiny hand prints on a pumpkin would be so darn cute! This also falls in with a Fall Craft! All you need is hand paint and paper! I bought my 10 piece Crayola paint pack from Target for only around $5.00! And it’s great for all those Holidays that happen all year long! Saving money & making memories, even messy ones!
Enjoy the yellow and orange leaves by taking a Stroll in the Park! Afterwards, you can all warm up with some apple cider and Decorate the house together!
There are almost always some free Local Festivals around town! You can try searching on Facebook for events around you or googling!
Go be the Awesome Mom that you are!
Don’t stress out about these upcoming holidays and just enjoy them! BE present, in every day! Hug your kids! Smile every time you see them, even if they decided to skip their nap! Because, they’re smiling at you, because YOU ARE ENOUGH!
You are enough for them, you are enough for God.
…Kay God, What’s Next?
Don’t forget to share with another Momma that may need to hear that she is enough!
