Sometimes, you may feel lost and alone. You may feel like you don’t know what to do with your life or if you’re doing enough. Well, to my fellow brother or sister in Christ, we were chosen by Jesus!

Chosen

“Oh my gosh, I’m so nervous! Please pick me! I’d love to be an official high school soccer player! I’ve always wanted to BE a Maverick and hear the crowd in the stands chanting “Let’s go Mavericks, let’s go”!

“Emily.”

“Ahh! That’s me! She said my name!”

Picked on a Team

Do you remember that feeling during school sports when the coach would choose their players? Your stomach is turning and your heart is beating so fast you could barely hear the coach speaking. Being on this team would be such an honor, you would take such commitment seriously and uphold your duties as a player and as a teammate. You would honor the oath between you and the coach.

And then.. you stop for a split second to make certain..yes..the coach picked you.. you were CHOSEN.

20 And it was not without an oath! Others became priests without any oath,21 but he became a priest with an oath when God said to him: “The Lord has sworn and will not change his mind: ‘You are a priest forever.'”

Hebrews 7:20-21

Wow! How amazing it must have felt to be CHOSEN by the Lord! There was an oath taken place between the Lord and Jesus, one that goes beyond priesthood. The highest honor! This was recorded in Psalm, chapter 110, verse 4: “The Lord has sworn and will not change his mind: ‘You are a priest forever,  in the order of Melchizedek.'”

Imagine Jesus choosing you! WOW! I can’t even fathom the beauty!

Chosen by Jesus Bible Scripture Isaiah 43:10

Oh, wait, but we are! We are chosen by Jesus and called to live for Him. Although, some may be called for ministry and some not. Whatever your calling is, the Lord will make it known to you. Not everyone is chosen for ministry and that’s okay.

Finding Your Position

However, being chosen to live for God and to share His Word is a gift! And, we all have our own roles, whether ministry or not. Try thinking of a soccer team for instance (or football for some of you). Everyone may have their own position to focus on but everyone is on the same team hoping for the same outcome.

Forwards

First, you have your forwards-the players making the goals- you can think of them like our pastors and preachers who baptize in the name of the Holy Spirit! That would be like a goal! Someone chose Jesus as their One and Only savior! Hallelujah! {All chosen by Jesus.}

Defenders

At the end, you have your defenders-which are the last chance to protect the goalie. They help people from getting scored on by sin. Sin that is so close you need to stand tall and fight. Maybe the Lord’s defenders are people like our doctors or therapists, people that can catch us before we fall. {All chosen by Jesus.}

Midfielders

Others may be assisting us, like a soccer team’s midfielders. The midfielders are needed everywhere, assisting the forwards and defense. The one’s that are inspiring, encouraging, or offering a helping hand and a listening ear. Maybe this is you. I’m not a pastor or a therapist. I’m just me, and the Lord still called on me. He chose me to be a midfielder, to encourage, and to spread his Truth. God chose me to teach my son, to support my significant other, to be a friend when needed, and to love thy neighbor. {All chosen by God}

Goalie

But, what is truly amazing, is even if sin were able to get through all of us, we can always count on our goalie, Jesus. Jesus will always be there. If sin gets through you; repent, ask for forgiveness, and Jesus, our Savior, will stop you from entering the enemy’s “net”.

Playing Together

See, ALL positions are important! Whether you are preaching, offering professional advice, or teaching a child about Adam and Eve, all these positions matter and need one another.

We work best as a team, Jesus’ team!

for you are a people holy to the Lord your God. Out of all the peoples on the face of the earth, the Lord has chosen you to be his treasured possession.

Deuteronomy 14:2
